ADD entrepreneurs are very good at taking risks. Taking risks is the only way that you are going to succeed in the business world. What ADD entrepreneurs sometimes lack is the ability to properly calculate how risky a venture is. There are three reasons why ADD entrepreneurs make uninformed risks.
1. The challenge of the risk can be highly stimulating to any adult with ADD .
2. ADD adults are impulsive. They tend to go with their gut feeling right away without properly analyzing potential problems.
3. Many factors of a potential deal will seem boring and mundane to an ADD adult so they will tend not to focus on them.
The problem is not in the risk taking, but in making a choice without fully understanding the consequences. There are some things that you can do to reduce making uninformed decisions.
1. Slow down the process. Before you make any major decision about your business take at least one full day to contemplate the advantages and disadvantages of your decision.
2. While your contemplating your decision ask for help and advice. Perhaps you have a mentor that you could talk it over with or maybe you could talk it over with your partner.
3. Educate yourself, I find that doing research about the issue on the Internet is helpful because you can get your information right away, and many times there are personal stories on how someone handled a similar risk. ADD adults process information better when they can relate to the giver.
