Adults with ADD are creative and passionate about things that they believe in. Creativity and passion are two qualities that are important in being able to successfully market your business. While most ADD entrepreneurs have the qualities to market their business successfully, they are also prone to making marketing mistakes that could hurt their business. Here are a couple of marketing mistakes that ADD entrepreneurs need to be aware of.
1. Focusing on your wants and needs versus focusing on the consumers wants and needs.
When marketing their business ADD entrepreneurs tend to hyper focus on the products and services that they like the best. For example an owner of a wine store might love the fact that his store has the best variety of wines in the area, and focus his marketing on the variety of wine. If he had focused on the consumer research he would have realized that his customers want service and price, and that is what his marketing should be focused on.
2. Creativity drowns out the focus on the marketing message.
Adults with ADD are drawn to visual cues, and ADD entrepreneurs tend to focus on the visual portion of their marketing. While the visual cues are important, they are worthless if the consumer is not getting the message that you want to give them. I am not saying that your marketing pieces should be bland and unoriginal, all that I am saying is that to make sure the focus is on your company's product and message. A good idea before showing any flier, poster, radio ad, TV ad, website, blog, etc., to your target audience is to have at least a few people review it to see if they get the message that you want them to receive.
