I was reading an article titled Examine hidden costs before changing jobs on Bankrate.com, when I thought about all of the hidden costs that I didn't fully pay attention to when I have switched jobs in the past.
Adults with ADD tend to be more impulsive than the general population. Many of the ADD adults that I know have tended to switch jobs and/or careers more often than someone who does not have ADD. Many people do not understand what the true hidden costs are when switching jobs because they are so focused on the benefits of switching jobs. There are many hidden costs (both monetary and non-monetary) that you should consider when switching jobs :
- Costs to update wardrobe
- Commuting Costs
- Cost to keep health insurance during probation period
- Loss of 401k Match during probation period
- Time costs (commuting time, expected overtime, extra travel)
- Working Environment
- Time Flexibility
- Paid Time Off ( Vacations & Holidays)

Other ones to remember are:
training allowances (time and money) - IE professional development
networking opportunities
laptops / fringe benefits
taxation impacts - ability to contract, claim home office etc
